Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman said he and Maries County deputies would personally deliver the special Halloween treats.

Residents who know of a child or have a child who lives in Maries County, who will be unable to go trick-or-treating due to a disability or illness, should send a private message to the Maries County Sheriff Facebook page, or call 573-422-3381.

Heitman said residents should send messages no later than Oct. 27.

“This is the seventh year for this program and it always goes over well! It is something I’ve always enjoyed doing for the kids, much like our Christmas program, while out on patrol,” Heitman said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

Heitman said residents who would like to donate items to be given away can take them to the sheriff’s office, at 211 Fourth St., in Vienna. Residents should drop items off before Oct. 28.
