Former Mizzou basketball player Mitchell Smith signs with Swedish professional team

Missouri men's basketball alum Mitchell Smith became the first member of the Tigers' 2020-21 roster to sign a professional contract. 

Smith announced his signing with the Swedish basketball club Norrköping Dolphins on Thursday via social media. 

The 6-foot-10 forward played for the Tigers from 2016-21 and was the last athlete recruited by former MU head coach Kim Anderson still in Columbia. 

The Dolphins play in the highest tier of basketball in Sweden, the Basketligan, and have won five league titles in club history, most recently in 2017-18.

Smith played in all 26 of Missouri's games last season while averaging 4.5 points and five rebounds per game. 

The Van Buren, Arkansas, native played in 97 games in his Tiger career, making 17 starts. Smith started 13 games during the 2019-20 season.
