Wyman elementary counselor named counselor of the year
The Professional Recognition Committee of the Missouri School Counselor Association has selected Julie Peterman, Counselor at Wyman Elementary, as the Missouri School Counselor Association’s Elementary School Counselor of the Year for 2020.
Peterman has been the Wyman Elementary School Counselor for 16 years. Prior to becoming a school counselor, Peterman was an elementary school teacher for six years. In addition to holding a Master’s of Education in Guidance and Counseling, she also has her Educational Specialist in Mental Health Practices in Schools.
As the counselor of Wyman Elementary, Peterman provides classroom counseling lessons, small group counseling and individual counseling. She is also the leader of the Student Assistance Team and Behavior Intervention Team for her building and Co-Chair of the RPS District Counselor Team.
Peterman is a member of the Missouri School Counselor Association and locally the South Central Missouri School Counselor Association in which she has held the offices of President, Vice-President and Secretary. Peterman resides in Rolla, with her husband Dennis, retired Mark Twain teacher, and son, Zane, a student at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
In her spare time, she enjoys crafting and watching Mizzou football.
