Rolla police arrest man on kidnapping, armed criminal action charges

On Sept. 7, 2020 at approximately 4:48 a.m., officers with the Rolla Police Department responded to the 800 Block of Oxford Drive regarding a shooting that had occurred between a husband and wife.

Upon arrival, it was determined that a male and female had both been shot and were injured. Further investigation revealed that the suspect, Jessie R. Roberts age 41 of Waynesville, made entry into the victim’s residence, then forced his way into her bedroom.

Inside the bedroom with the 40-year-old female victim, was her adult daughter and an infant male. Upon entry into the bedroom, gunfire was exchanged between the female victim and the suspect Jessie Roberts. 

The female victim and Jessie Roberts were both airlifted to University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia for treatment. Jessie Roberts was taken into custody and has been charged with Burglary 1st Degree (1 Count), Assault 1st Degree (1 Count), Attempted Kidnapping-Terrorizing 1st Degree (1 Count), and Armed Criminal Action (3 Counts).

At the time of the incident, the female victim had an active full order of protection filed with the courts whereas Jessie Roberts was named as the Respondent.

The criminal charges, for which Jessie Roberts has been arrested, are mere accusations. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
