The National Weather Service issued the Flash Flood Watch as the remnants of Tropical Storm Cristobal will move into southern Missouri Monday afternoon and continue into Tuesday morning.

The NWS forecast states this system will lead to excessive rainfall leading to flooding. Two to four inches of rain is expected, with locally higher amounts over four inches possible within heavier ran bands late Monday into Tuesday, according to the NWS.

“Travel may become hazardous at times Monday evening into Tuesday morning as visibility becomes greatly reduced due to heavy rainfall. Remember to never drive through floodwaters. We are anticipating several creeks, rivers and streams, and urban areas to experience some degree of flooding,” according to the NWS situation report published at 4:25 a.m.
