Newburg, Rolla and St. James pick up pair of wins
Newburg Lady Wolves
The Lady Wolves picked up two Frisco League wins this week as they defeated Plato and Richland.
Newburg defeated Plato 54-40 on Monday and were led in scoring by Clair Brookshire with 17 points and Bailey Brookshire with 16 points.
The Lady Wolves’ big win of the week came at home against the Richland Lady Bears when they upset a Bears team that was previously undefeated in conference play 52-41. Clair Affolter led the team with 21 points, while Bailey Brookshire added 11 in the win.
Dixon currently leads the Frisco League with a 1-0 record, while Newburg, Licking, Crocker and Richland all have just one conference loss.
Newburg will travel to Crocker on January 20 for another key matchup.
Rolla Lady Bulldogs
The Lady Bulldogs picked up two Ozark Conference wins this week defeating Kickapoo on Monday and Hillcrest on Thursday in Springfield.
Rolla defeated the Lady Chiefs 49-47 in an exciting overtime game to start the week. Last year both teams were tied for the conference championship. Ellie Rodgers led the team with 13 points, Loran Pritchett added 10 and both Carli Libhart and Savanah Campbell added nine points each.
The Lady Bulldogs carried that momentum to Hillcrest and Rolla did not waste any time as they took an early lead and won the game 70-33. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Rodgers and Campbell with 15 points while Taniya Corley added 12 and Libhart scored 10 points in the win.
Rolla is 12-2 and ranked third in Class 4 this season.
St. James Lady Tigers
The Lady Tigers have made it to the championship game of the Fatima Tournament. They will face the host Comets for the title game this weekend pending the weather makeup time.
St. James defeated the Belle Lady Tigers in the first round 52-25 and Linn 49-21 in the second round of the tournament.
The Lady Tigers are 7-2 on the year.
