Miners and Lady Miners looking to build off trip to Quincy
The Lady Miners traveled to Quincy, Ill., on Saturday and defeated the Lady Hawks with a 91-76 win.
The Lady Miners set an early tone with their 21-11 lead after the first period. Missouri S&T continued to perform well as they outscored the Lady Hawks 19-16 in the second period for a 40-27 halftime lead.
The Lady Miners once again used their momentum in the third as they edged out Quincy 24-23 to maintain a 64-50 advantage and cruised to the finish line.
S&T is 6-6 on the season with a 2-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference record. The next game is on Thursday against Southwest Baptist in Rolla and the team will be back in action on Saturday hosting Drury.
The Miners also traveled to Quincy this weekend and fell short in an 88-81 defeat.
The Miners trailed 39-24 after the first half of the game and shot 38 percent from the field while Quincy was on fire with a healthy 62 percent.
S&T was outscored 49-47 in a closely contested final 20 minutes. The Miners improved their shooting to 45 percent.
CJ Hedgepeth had 32 points in the loss to lead the Miners. Dulan Scott also had a big game, with 18 points.
S&T will host Southwest Baptist on Thursday and Drury University on Saturday.
The Lady Miners will play at 5:30 on Thursday and 1 p.m., on Saturday. The men will follow.
