St. James picked up wins over New Haven in Four Rivers Conference actions and defeated a state-ranked Steelville Lady Cardinals team last week.

New Haven

The Lady Tigers recovered from a low-scoring first period and won the game 38-25 on January 6.

St. James took a 4-3 lead after a tough first period of action and the Lady Tigers ramped up the pace as they outscored New Haven 13-6 in the quarter in the second frame for a 17-9 halftime lead.

The Lady Tigers came out and continued to convert. They outscored New Haven 17-2 in the third quarter to help seal it. St. James led 34-11 with just one period to go as New Haven sought to mount a comeback, but it was not enough.

Steelville Lady Cardinals

The second game of the week was Thursday night when the Lady Tigers faced a state-ranked Steelville Lady Cardinals team and had little trouble with a 56-36 win.

St. James led 13-6 after the first quarter of the game and outscored Steelville 18-5 in the second period to open up a 31-11 lead going into halftime.

Steelville began the second half with an early third quarter charge as they outshot the Lady Tigers 13-11. St. James held onto a 42-24 lead going into the final period and finished strong.

The Lady Tigers are 7-2 on the season and with their only losses coming to state-ranked Licking and Owensville in the Sullivan Tournament.

St. James will compete in the Fatima Tournament from January 13 through the 17th.
