The Missouri S&T Lady Miners fell in the first game of the night at the University of Missouri at St. Louis 60-56 on Saturday and the Miners fell in the men's game 76-57.

Both teams are 1-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. 

Women

The Lady Tritons took an early lead and never looked back after the Miners kept the game close for three quarters.

UMSL took an early 19-12 lead after the first quarter as S&T shot just 25 percent compared to the Lady Tritons’ 50 percent mark in the quarter.

The Lady Miners outscored the Lady Tritons 17-13 in the second quarter of the game to trail 32-29 at the break. S&T improved to 54 percent in the quarter while UMSL dropped to 30 percent.

Both teams scored 16 points each in the third quarter as UMSL maintained a 48-45 advantage. The Lady Miners shot 47 percent, while the Lady Tritons were at 45 percent.

UMSL outran the Lady Miners 19-11 in the fourth to seal it. Both teams struggled in the final quarter from the field, but the Lady Tritons were 5-5 from the free throw line.

Rolla was led by Maddie Raley with 19 points, while Baylor rounded out the top scorers with 12. Baylor led the team with 10 rebounds to complete a double-double.

The Lady Tritons were led by Danielle Berry with 17 points. Alex LaPorta added 10 rebounds and four assists.

S&T is now 5-5 on the season and 1-2 in GLVC action. UMSL is 6-6 and 1-2 in GLVC play.

Men

The Miners fell to a strong UMSL squad as the Tritons led 39-29 after the first half of action and diminished any chance of a comeback. The Miners shot 42 percent while the Tritons were at 50 percent in the same time frame.

UMSL again outran the Miners in the second half and topped them 37-28 in the final 20 minutes.

The Miners were led by Dulan Scott with 16 points. Jordan Newt added 14 in the loss. Fitch Fairless led the team with eight rebounds.

The Tritons had four players in double figures. Yaakema Rose had 21 points, Jason Towery scored 15, Jalen Wilkins-McCoys scored 13 and Jose Grubbs added 12 more. Wilkins-McCoys pulled down 11 rebounds, while Rose added six assists.

The Miners are 3-6 on the season and 1-2 in GLVC action, while the Tritons are 12-1 on the year and still undefeated in conference action.
