The St. James Tigers hosted the Rolla Bulldogs on Tuesday in a battle for Phelps County and the Tigers won the battle 81-56.

The St. James Tigers hosted the Rolla Bulldogs on Tuesday in a battle for Phelps County and the Tigers won the battle 81-56.

The Tigers were coming off a loss to Sullivan in the championship of the Sullivan Tournament last week which also included wins over Potosi and Waynesville. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs went 1-2 last week in the Republic Tournament and finished seventh after falling to Park Hill South and Springdale, Ark., before securing a win over Lincoln College Prep of Kansas City.

St. James took a 14-7 lead after the first period and led by as much as 10 points in the quarter. Kadin Guess led the Tigers with five points and the Bulldogs were fueled by Ty Locklear with three in the first frame.

The Tigers outshot the Bulldogs again, 23-18, in the second and secured a 37-25 lead by halftime. Andrew Branson led all scorers with 11 points, which included a 3-point shot in the period. Rolla was led by Danny Foster who chipped in seven points of his own.

Branson had 15 to lead all scorers at the half and Austin Ridenhour added six points to the lead. Muluken Pritchett led Rolla with his six points in the first half.

The Tiger did not slow down, either, with another solid outing in the third. Branson scored 17 points in the quarter, while Rolla was led by Foster with seven points of his own.

The final period was no different as St. James closed the final period with a 22-14 difference.

The leading scorers for St. James were Branson with 37, Ridenhour who added 16and Guese who put in 12 in the win.

Rolla was led by Pritchett and Foster who both had 11 points. Colby Shivers scored 10 more points for the Bulldogs.

The next game for St. James is on the road in Salem on December 13. Rolla’s next game is at home against Pacific on the same night.
