The Avila Lady Eagles are no longer unbeaten after the Lady Miners sent them home with an 80-61 defeat.
The Missouri S&T Lady Miners hosted an unbeaten Avila Lady Eagles team from Kansas CIty that is 3-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

S&T came into the game with a two-game winning streak where they defeated Lindenwood at Belleville 75-59 and Westminster from Missouri 113-46. The Lady Miners are 2-2 overall.
Avila had defeated York College 89-71, Friends University 76-55 and Southwestern College 67-59. They fell to Truman State in an exhibition game on the November 22 that does not count on their record.
The Lady Miners trailed 10-2 in the first quarter with three minutes to go. S&T began to pull in closer and close the gap after a couple of Lady Eagle turnovers. S&T trailed 17-18 after Avila tighted up their defense.
S&T was led by Marta Durk and Alex Kerr, who both combined for 10 points. Jordan Kabetskie, Ashley Harvey and Maddie Raley all had seven points combined between them.
The Lady Eagles were off to a hot start as they stretched their lead early to six points. S&T continued to hang around and closed the gap back to three points when halftime approached, trailing 38-35 at the break.
The Lady Miners were led by Kerr with 10 points. Durk was not far behind her with eight of her own. Kabetske led S&T with three rebounds in the half. The Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Paige Bunn who had 16 to lead all scorers after the first two quarters. Matti Morgan score nine of her own in the period.
The Lady Miners picked up a 39-38 lead early in the third period and continued to push ahead. S&T outscored the Lady Eagles 29-7 in the period and began to pull away as the Lady Miners led 64-45 after three quarters of play.
The Lady Miner broke the 20-point differential with five minutes remaining and cruised the rest of the way to climb back to a .500 winning percentage early in the season.
The Lady Miners were led in points by Mykala Baylor who had 18 in the win. Alex Kerr added 15 and Marta Durk put up 12. Baylor also led in rebounds with 11. Ashley Harvey had nine and Alex Kerr added eight.
Paige Bunn led the Lady Eagles with 28 points while Matti Morgan was the other Avila player in double figures with 13. Brooke Westrom added seven of her own. Paige Esry had nine rebounds, while Westrom had seven and Morgan added another six.
The next game for S&T is at home against Maryville in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The men will compete in Springfield for two games over Thanksgiving at Drury University against Rodgers State and Southern Arkansas.
