Rolla’s Rebecca Janke signed her letter of intent on Friday to play volleyball at Lindenwood University.

She was an integral part of Rolla’s season this year where the Lady Bulldogs fell to state quarterfinalist Willard in October.

“Rebecca has been so steady for us for her entire career. This season she made amazing strides in defense as well,” Rolla volleyball coach Stephanie Pritchett said. “Her career hitting percentage was .381, which is outstanding. She was also second in all-time kills with 815. Rebecca is such a great kid and liked by everyone. We will miss her both on and off the court next season.”

Janke has been a First Team All-District selection this volleyball season while also serving as the team captain. Janke was a first team All-Ozark Conference selection her junior year and was on the All-District Honorable Mention team. She was also on the Honorable Mention team in both conference and district.

Janke was also on the All-Ozark Conference team in basketball every year the last three years. She has been part of several All-Tournament teams during that time. Janke was selected to First Team All-District in the sophomore and junior seasons. She was also a key part of the Lady Bulldogs’ playoff run last year.

In track, she was a First Team All-Conference the last two seasons. She also earned All-District every year since year freshman season. She set the school’s javelin record as a freshman.

Sports are not the only thing she excels in as she was an All-Academic Conference Selection in volleyball, track and basketball. She was also an All-State Selection academically in volleyball.

Janke is part of the National Honors Society, part of the Show Me Scholars, and has A+ Honors. She placed second in Skills USA in districts and was a state qualifier. Janke received CORE honors for maintaining a 3.8 GPA in high school.

“I’m really excited to go to the next level. High school volleyball was fun but I’m excited to play at a high level, with people who love volleyball and want to get better,” Janke said. “I’m also excited to see what it’s like to live in a city other than Rolla, meet new people and new teammates.”
