Blue Springs girls tennis coach Jake Estep said that the score of his Jaguars’ 7-2 loss to Liberty didn’t tell the entire story.

“The girls played some fantastic tennis and really pushed the Jays,” Estep said. “Our No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams both had chances at the end of the match to win it along with our No. 5 in singles mounting a great comeback and falling just short. Hard to not be proud of the girls tonight.”

South’s two wins came from Jasmine Tucker, who won the No. 3 doubles match 9-8 (7-4 tiebreaker), and Grace Allen, who won 8-6 at No. 4.

LIBERTY NORTH 6, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 3: The Bears were swept in doubles play and were unable to recover in a loss to the Eagles Thursday.

In singles play, No. 3 Izzy Janes won 8-3, No. 4 Nicole Eppert won 8-4 and No. 5 Juliette Anderson won 9-7.

"I was so proud of the fight in our girls team,” Chrisman coach Jason Grubb said. “We got the wind knocked out of us in three close doubles losses, and gave it a run at winning almost all of the singles. When I peeked at the singles courts, I was pleased to see us winning every one at least 2-1 or 3-2. Unfortunately, my girls are still struggling to eliminate silly mistakes like double faults that end up costing us matches,"

Chrisman’s junior varsity lost 7-2.
