Florence “Jill” Marie Anderton, 87, of Boonville, passed away Thursday evening Sept. 14, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 18 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Riverside Christian Church, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Mackey officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Church Cemetery in Columbia.

Florence was born on Nov. 14, 1929 in Cuba, Mo., to C.E. “Bud” and Birdie Marie Lewis.

She was known by her close family and friends as “Jill”. Jill was the eldest daughter of six children. She graduated from Cuba High School in 1947.

Florence “Jill” was united in marriage to John Ray Anderton on Dec. 5, 1964. He was the love of her life and she never remarried after John’s death on Jan. 17, 1997.

They spent the happiest of times together in a home in Cooper County. Together they enjoyed yard work, gardening, canning, playing cards and dominoes, and entertaining family and guests in their home.

Florence worked as a waitress and in a variety of food service positions. However, her true calling was as a Care Giver as she devoted much of her life to assisting and caring for family members as they suffered with end of life diseases.

During her later years she spent her time reading daily devotions and working jigsaw puzzles. The highlight of her days were the weekly phone calls from her great-grandson Blake. She was an active member of Riverside Christian Church where she enjoyed attending Sunday School and Life After Fifty Small Group.

She is survived by her children, Laura (Roger) Hill of Fulton, Ray (Janet) Garms of Fayette, Tracey (Steve) Walczak of Victorville, Calif., and Phyllis (Doug) Gilpin of Boonville; step-children, Wayne and Raymond Anderton of Columbia, and Sharon (Gary) Love Bridell of Miramar Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Bart) Nelson, Delbert R. Hall, Don (Kara) Garms, Katie (Jeff) Berrios, Josh Hill, Becky Hill, John (Cherri) Huster and Melissa Furlow.

She is also survived by one sister, Dottie Jarvis of Gainsville, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and other extended family members.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, John; step-son, Ronnie Anderton; and siblings, Jack, Bill, Bob, and Evie.
