Donna Arlene Adkins, 70, left this world at 3:15a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017, just a few hours after the total solar eclipse viewed by so many in her long-time hometown of Columbia.

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held on her birthday, Sept. 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Rocheport United Methodist Church, 202 Columbia Street, in Rocheport; all family and friends are welcome.

She was born Sept. 30, 1946 in Zenith, Ill. and married John M. Adkins August 21, 1966, also in Zenith, Ill.

She and Edwin B. Lockwood were married on Dec. 28, 2014, in Rocheport; and he survives. Donna and Edwin enjoyed traveling, visiting family and places she loved such as Niagara Falls, Alaska, and Yellowstone. After retirement, it was her dream to travel and they realized this together.

Donna served others for many years in her career as recovery room nurse at Columbia Regional Hospital, and later Women’s and Children’s. She also had a successful Princess House Crystal home-based business, winning multiple trips and accolades.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa M. Rohmiller and Rebecca S. Adkins; grandson, John M. Rohmiller; and granddaughter, Victoria R. Franko, all of Columbia; sister, Sue Bennett of Xenia, Ill.; cousin, Doris Adkins; and brother-in-law, Thomas Adkins of Cleveland, Mo.; Bart and Cindy Lockwood of White Sands, N.M., Edwin Lockwood Jr. and wife, Lori of Kingdom City, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and very special friends.

She has gone on to live in eternity with those who surely rejoice to welcome her, including her parents Don and Maxine Caudle; first husband, John M. Adkins; his parents, Dell G. and Genevieve Rose Schuber Adkins; and his brother, Dell Adkins.
