County health officials reported two more people had died from COVID-19 in Phelps County since Thursday, and nine people are currently hospitalized. 

The Phelps Maries County Health Department on Monday reported 237 active COVID-19 cases in Phelps County — one hundred fourteen in Rolla, 107 in St. James, two in the Edgar Springs area and 14 in the Newburg area. 

According to the health department, staff are investigating active COVID-19 cases in the Missouri Veterans Home, St. James Living Center, Rolla Presbyterian Manor and Ferndale Residential Care Facility.

As of 5 p.m. Monday, the department reported 29 people have died from COVID-19 in Phelps County, and there are nine people currently hospitalized. The department has confirmed five deaths in Rolla, 23 deaths in the St. James and Rosati area and one death in the Newburg area. 

In their Monday report, county health officials said a total of 20 people had died due to complications from COVID-19 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James and one person had died at St. James Living Center. 

The department reported that 875 people previously quarantined in Phelps County have now been released from isolation.

In neighboring Maries County, the department reported 51 active COVID-19 cases — twenty-two in Vienna, nine in Belle, seven in Argyle, seven in Dixon, four in Vichy, one in St. James and one in Brinktown. 

The department’s report shows three people currently hospitalized in Maries County, while 226 people have now been released from mandatory quarantine.
