Rolla residents will have the opportunity to get tested for COVID-19 in September.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has partnered with the Missouri National Guard and the Phelps Maries County Health Department to offer COVID-19 testing at Rolla Lions Club Park.

Residents who register for the community testing event will receive a free polymerase chain reaction test done by a nasal anterior nares swab to determine if there is an active infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that cases COVID-19.

Missouri residency is the only requirement to participate in the event. Residents do not have to be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 to get tested.

Residents will need to pre-register for the community testing event online at health.mo.gov/communitytest.

The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 30, at Rolla Lions Club Den and Park, 1061 S. Bishop Ave.

The state health department said Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act funding will be used for the community testing event.
