The Phelps Maries County Health Department reported 49 new positive cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Phelps County since Thursday.

The Phelps Maries County Health Department reported on Monday a total of 357 people in Phelps County have tested positive for COVID-19 since late March, with 240 of the COVID-19 cases confirmed in Rolla. 

The department said its monitoring 81 active cases in Phelps County, which takes into account residents who have an active COVID-19 infection detected by a polymerase chain reaction test or antigen test.

The health department said a total of 310 people previously quarantined in Phelps County have now been released from isolation. As of 5 p.m. Monday, the department said two people have died from COVID-19 and there is no one currently hospitalized.

Meanwhile, Rolla Public Library on Monday extended its building closure through Sept. 21. Due to the cumulative number of new cases, the library said it will be open for curbside service, phone service and scheduled computer appointments during regular library hours, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
