The Rolla Area Chamber of Commerce presented Rolla High School guidance counselor and student council advisor, Rodger Bridgeman, with the Outstanding Educator of the Year Award.

The award honors an educator who exemplifies creativity, enthusiasm, commitment and development of a positive learning environment.

Chamber Executive Director Stevie Kearse said Bridgeman is 100% devoted to helping others.

Kearse said, “This is not just a job to him but a passion that he commits to 24/7. Rodger genuinely cares for the students and works to make their lives better through counseling them in tough times, providing necessities such as hygiene products and proper clothes for school, and finding formals for them for events.”

“Rodger is a wonderful leader and mentor to the students working with them on STUCO and other activities throughout the year. He assists with the Friday Backpack Program and has one of the most positive attitudes and willingness to give of his time and resources,” Kearse added.
