The Ozark Rivers Audubon Chapter and Meramec Hills Chapter of the Missouri Master Naturalists will present a Native Plant sale.
September is already here and your garden will be changing with the advent of autumn. Have you decided which plants are keepers and those that need to be removed? If so, the next step is to make up your shopping list for the Native Plant sale on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Doolittle Gardens will have 50 species of native plants for sale and Prairie Hill Farm will have the same number, but several different species. Their plant lists can be viewed at ozarkriversaudubon.org and Facebook.com/ozaud. Such a variety can be overwhelming, residents are encouraged to research the plants online to determine their light and soil requirements and make a list of your most desired plants. Missouriplants.com and grownative.org have pictures and detailed plant descriptions.
This community event is co-sponsored by Ozark Rivers Audubon and the Meramec Hills Chapter of the Missouri Master Naturalists. Face masks must be worn at all times and social distancing is required. Visitor access to the sale will be regulated for this reason. The nature center will be closed to other visitors until 3 p.m.
Audubon Trails Nature Center is located at 550 Meriweather Court, in Rolla. Take exit 185 off Interstate 44 onto White Columns Drive, then turn right onto Meriweather Court. The directions are also available on Google Maps.
