COLUMBIA — The University of Missouri School of Journalism has received a $3 million donation to promote business-related journalism, the school announced Wednesday.

The graduate who donated the gift wishes to remain anonymous, the university said.

The money will create an endowment for scholarships, paid internships and mentoring for students at the Missouri Business Alert, which produces business news in emails, weekly podcasts and multimedia content.

"This generous gift will help one of the world's oldest journalism schools continue to educate world-class students," said Mun Choi, Missouri chancellor and University of Missouri System president. "Community support is what allows this institution to not only thrive but continue to innovate and create new opportunities for its students."
