The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Phelps and Pulaski counties until 9 p.m.

Gasconade, Maries, Crawford, Dent, Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Franklin, Iron, Jefferson, Lincoln, Madison, Miller, Moniteau, Montgomery, Osage, Pike, Ralls, Reynolds, Warren and Washington counties are also under the weather service’s tornado watch until 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service’s Situation Report states there is also an enhanced risk for scattered severe thunderstorms during the afternoon — mainly across portions of central Missouri. Hazards include large hail up to the size of golf balls and damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph. 

Additional strong storms are possible Thursday, according to the situation report published today.
