Meramec Regional Community Foundation (MRCF) awarded the St. James Parks and Recreation department a $250 grant for its Little Tigers Sports and Games program.

The check was presented at MRCF’s invite-a-friend luncheon in March at MRPC in St. James.

St. James Parks and Recreation Department was one of six projects selected for funding out of the 16 grants reviewed by the MRCF board, this year.

The St. James Parks and Recreations Department currently has no programs offered for toddlers. The Little Tigers Sports and Games program serves children three-to-five years old with programs that focus on basic fundamentals of individualized sports. Since the parks department’s budget is limited, the grant is going to be used to purchase the age appropriate equipment needed to provide the toddler program.

MRCF is an outgrowth of the Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) and is an affiliate of Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO) in Springfield. The regional affiliate was formed in 2010. Its 12-member board includes representation from each of the eight Meramec counties and from MRPC. Vicki Lange of Osage County serves as president of MRCF.
