“We love our community and work hard every day to make sure that every person has their basic needs met. During this time, we know many families and individuals in our community are struggling to get food,” Operations Coordinator of The Rolla Mission Stephanie Hausner says.

To help, Hausner said, The Rolla Mission is turning the side of their building into a walk-thru, where anyone in need can come through for a sack lunch and hygiene bag from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

The Rolla Mission will have a lane set up at 708 N. Main St. with markers in place to ensure social distancing is maintained. Hausner said people who would like a lunch bag should line up at the indicated spots where there will be circles to stand on.

People who would like to get a meal for more than one person should let staff know, and they will be happy to accommodate. When people receive their meal, they should follow through the lane to exit the property, Hausner said.

“We ask that you take your meal to-go to ensure that no crowds gather, and everyone maintains social distancing,” she said.

The hygiene bags The Rolla Mission is providing will contain soap, a washcloth, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and a pack of tissues.

Staff will also hand out literature about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19, symptoms people should look out for and what people should do if they think they may have COVID-19, according to Hausner.

“We are so grateful to our generous donors and volunteers for making this possible,” Hausner said. “Thank you; we are grateful for your support during this time.”
