Phelps - Maries County Health Department said Missouri State Public Health Laboratory notified the department that the COVID-19 test result of a sample taken from the patient in Rolla was negative.

The county health department confirmed that the patient tested negative for the virus late Thursday after notifying the individual's potential contacts.

The patient was isolated on Wednesday after Phelps Health said the individual presented symptoms to the emergency department in Rolla that met the criteria for COVID-19 testing.

Phelps Health said they were closely monitoring the situation on Wednesday, and there was no elevated risk to the community.

Director of the Phelps-Maries County Health Department Ashley Wann said, in a release on Thursday, that currently there have been no other samples taken from people in Phelps or Maries counties for COVID-19 submitted to the state public health laboratory for testing.
