Miracle on Pine Street is planned for the children and families of Rolla and the surrounding area from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at the Rolla Police Department Volunteers In Service (VIPS) lobby on the corner of Pine Street and 11th Street.

Families are encouraged to bring their cameras to record their children visiting with Santa who will be at the event.

The Miracle on Pine Street is hosted by the not-for-profit Behind the Badge - Rolla organization which supports the morale and welfare of Rolla Police Department officers, staff and volunteers.

Cookies, baked goods and hot chocolate will be served. All donations are welcome.

Behind the Badge t-shirts will also be for sale for $20 each.

Proceeds from the event will help with expenses associated with the Golden Shield Awards Banquet recognizing officers who have demonstrated exceptional service, in addition to other awards for excellence presented throughout the year.

“We try to recognize our officers and staff who go above and beyond,” said Kate Wachter, a member of the organization. “We award gift cards to officers who took the most reports, or to dispatchers who took the most calls. We also try to recognize officer’s spouses who have contributed to our organization in addition to other volunteers.”
