Crews will begin work to return Interstate 44 west of Mt. Vernon, between Mile Markers 42-45, to its normal traffic pattern at 7 p.m.

Crews will begin work to return Interstate 44 west of Mt. Vernon to its normal traffic pattern — two lanes in each direction — before the busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Starting at 7 p.m. crews will open the eastbound side to two lanes of traffic. Crews will move to the westbound lanes tonight once that is complete.

By Wednesday at noon all four lanes of I-44 will be open to traffic west of Mt. Vernon, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Lane closings east of Mt. Vernon, between Mile Markers 46-47, will remain in place until mid-December.

Weather or unforeseen delays will alter the work schedule.
