Rolla police have arrested the parents of a four-month-old on multiple charges of child abuse.
The Rolla Police Department says the investigation began in October 2019 after police received a report of a possible child abuse incident involving a four-month-old.
Authorities determined during the initial investigation that the four-month-old had sustained 18 broken bones on various parts of the body, all of which were in different stages of healing.
Police say the four-month-old also had a broken arm, and investigators determined that the injuries sustained by the child were consistent with inflicted trauma and not by accidental means.
Police arrested 26-year-old Shawn D. Crall, of Rolla, and 22-year-old Hannah M. Crall, of Bolivar, on Monday in connection with the investigation.
Shawn and Hannah have been charged with two counts of abuse or neglect of a child.
Rolla police say Hannah has been released after posting a $250,000 bond, and Shawn remains incarcerated in place of a $250,000 bond.
The Phelps County Sheriff's Department and Polk County Sheriff's Department assisted in the investigation. Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Meyer with Rolla Police Department's Division of Criminal Investigations Unit at (573) 308-1213 or by calling Rolla Police Department's confidential tip line at (573) 364-0111.
