Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children announced the 2019 Festival of Trees event will commence come December. The annual fundraising event raises funds to make sure every child in the community has a voice.

The 2019 Festival of Trees is set for Saturday, Dec. 7. The event, hosted by Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA), will be held from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Hasselmann Alumni House, with a cocktail hour from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.

The theme of the annual fundraiser will be “A Technicolor Christmas.”

Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Individuals or businesses can become sponsors. Donations are also welcome.

Fully decorated Christmas trees will be auctioned off, along with many other items. Online bids will be taken, as well as those submitted in person. Food will be provided by a variety of caterers.

“We are so grateful to the Rolla community and surrounding communities in the 25th Circuit who contribute to our organization,” Matt Evans, Executive Director of South Central CASA. “I don’t know where we would be without such caring communities."

Evans pointed out that the increase in opioid use has contributed to a great deal to more children coming into the foster care system. The 25th Judicial Circuit includes Phelps, Pulaski, Texas and Maries counties.

“Our goal is to make sure every child has a voice and that voice is the CASA volunteer,” Evans said. “We’ve been pleased with our recruitment of volunteers, but there are still more children who are on the waiting list. The more children we serve, the more funding we need to accommodate the organization.”
