Fine Linen Theatre is thrilled to announce the opening of the hilarious British farce, Charley's Aunt.

Charley’s Aunt is set in 1912, at Oxford University. Students Charley and Jack are hopelessly in love, but Victorian etiquette always requires a chaperone – even while they propose. Fortunately, Charley’s Brazilian aunt is coming to visit. The bad news? She doesn’t arrive. The good news? Their roommate is playing the part of an old lady in a University theatrical.

From the moment Jack and Charley enlist their friend to impersonate Charley’s aunt, the play moves from one unbelievably absurd situation to the next with domino-effect alacrity, as the two college gents try to keep up with the lie they have perpetrated in order to propose to the women they love. Charley’s Aunt is a classic example of a three-act, fast-paced, incredibly fun romp of a show.

Charley’s Aunt, a witty and side-splitting farce, full of mistaken identities and awkward situations, will delight audience members of all ages and will open on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Cedar Street Playhouse in Rolla. The play originally premiered in 1892 and broke the historic record for longest-running play worldwide at that time, running for 1,466 performances. It has been an audience favorite ever since.

Additional Fine Linen performances will be Oct. 5, 8, 10, 11, and 12 all at 7 p.m. with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Oct. 5. Friday Talk-Back Sessions will be on Oct. 4 and Oct. 11 immediately following the show. The public is invited to join the cast and the audience in discussing the show and asking/answer questions in this popular discussion format.

Ticket prices run from $8-to-$18 for adults and $4-to-$9 for youth. Tickets are available online at or by calling the Box Office at 800-806-1915.  Fine Linen considers this production acceptable for all ages.
