The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District responded to a report of a car crash on eastbound Interstate 44 at mile marker 172 in Rolla. Responders said the driver rolled their vehicle in an attempt to avoid an animal in the roadway.

The 26-year-old driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix was driving eastbound. The driver, while attempting to avoid an animal in the roadway, overcorrected, causing the car to skid. The car then traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking an embankment, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District was assisted by troopers, and the driver and the occupant were both transported by ambulance to Phelps Health around midnight.

The driver had moderate injuries. The one occupant of the vehicle had minor injuries. Both were wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.
