Rolla High School's evening of live competitive partner dancing featured some of Rolla's most talented dancers paired with community “stars.”

Rolla High School’s Leadership class hosted the event, and this was the first time Rolla High School hosted the night out of dancing, which unfolded into a spectacular evening orchestrated by Rolla High School seniors, Emily Phillips and Brionna Pedrin.

Five couples took part in the evening of competitive dancing, and each couple picked a charity to raise funds for. During the April 26 event at the Rolla Middle School auditorium, Kody Brown and Lori Ann Chance danced their way into the title of ‘winning couple.’

Roughly $400 was raised by Brown and Chance that went to Prevention Consultants of Missouri, while RJ Alfred and Kate Campbell were honored with the People’s Choice Award.

Rolla High School plans to carry out Dancing with the Stars of Rolla next year, and anyone who is interested in taking part may contact Rolla High School’s Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, Jamie Cantrell, at Jcantrell@rolla.k12.mo.

Rolla High School’s Leadership class, who hosted the night out of competitive dancing, are part of a course comprised of juniors and seniors who desire to take a leadership role in their school and community. This select group of students remain busy the entire year with various events, committee work, while learning the many aspects of organizational leadership.
