The St. James duo of Micah Bartle and Isaac Helterbrand took part in the Class 2 State Golf Championships on Monday and Tuesday, May 13-14. The pair both played well in the final rounds of their high school careers.

Bartle has had an excellent season for the Tigers and finished it off by finishing in a tie for 53rd at State. He shot a 93 on the first day of State, before shooting a 95 on day two.

"Micah had a decent State Tournament. This was his first time getting to State and I thought he performed really well," said head coach Kevin Conway.

Helterbrand made his second straight trip to State and improved on his finish last season, where he finished in 80th place. This time around, Helterbrand finished in a tie for 70th. He shot a 97 in his first round, before shooting a 100 on the second day.

"Isaac did a good job of meeting his goal and shooting better than he did his junior year at State," said coach Conway. "It was nice that he could finish tied for 70th out of 91 players."

Overall, coach Conway was pleased with how his two seniors competed at State and the leadership they provided all season.

"It was a great experience for both Isaac and Micah," said the Tiger head coach. "I was proud of the way they played, but I was also proud of their demeanor when they didn't play very well. These are two great kids on and off the course and I've enjoyed coaching them! I'll miss their leadership next year!"
