For the 18th time in program history, the Rolla girls soccer team will be playing in a District Championship game. The Lady Bulldogs opened their District tournament against Marshfield on Monday, May 13, cruising to a 3-0 win to clinch a spot in the title game.
Rolla came out of the gates swinging on Monday, scoring twice in the game's opening half. Eliana Stanislawski got things started with a goal in the 10th minute off an assist from Elsa Wise. Stanislawski then returned the favor just before the end of the half, as she dished off an assist to Wise to give Rolla a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Lady Bulldog offense was quiet for most of the second half, but Ellie Rodgers was able to put the game away with five minutes left, as she knocked in Rolla's third goal of the game with an assist from Sophie Moreland.
Kate Brand played the first half in goal and Eden Potter played the second as Rolla recorded their 10th shutout of the season.
"It wasn’t the best game we have played so far this season but we advanced," said head coach Mike Howard. "No pressure on us now. We are playing on the road and are the underdog, so we can just show up relaxed and ready to play."
The Lady Bulldogs will face off against against Camdenton for the District Championship on Wednesday at 4:30. Camdenton beat Rolla in PKs in their matchup earlier this season.
