A crash Tuesday morning at mile marker 183 just west of Rolla on Interstate 44 has resulted in one occupant dead and three injured according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
A thirty-two-year-old driver was driving his 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan westbound Tuesday at 2 a.m. on Interstate 44, and fell asleep, according to the crash report, causing his vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, when the vehicle returned to the roadway, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned. The third occupant, a 59-year-old female, was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt, and she was pronounced dead at 3:58 a.m. at Phelps Health Hospital.
The driver and the two other occupants were transported by Phelps Health Ambulance to Phelps Health Hospital with minor injuries incurred from the crash, and all three were reported as wearing their seat belts, according to the crash report. This is Troop I’s third fatality for April and the sixth for 2019.
