The Rolla Optimist Club is hosting a respect for law dinner in May.
The Rolla Optimist Club will host its annual Respect For Law Banquet on May 1 at the Lion’s Club Den. For more than thirty-five years Rolla Optimists have joined Optimist clubs worldwide in observing the Respect for Law Week as a way of honoring those members of our community involved in governmental and law-related professions. The dinner will feature a guest speaker.
The dinner also features the presentation of two awards: the Bramlett-Light Award, named in honor of two former Rolla Chiefs of Police and given to individuals who made extraordinary contributions to their community or their profession; and the Sheffield-Kenley Award, named in honor of Judge Mary Sheffield and Capt. Lee Ann Kenley of Troop I, recognizing a woman for outstanding public service in government.
Nominations for consideration for these awards can be made by sending their information to John Wiggins, P.O. Box 340, Rolla, Mo. 65402.
The deadline for award nominations is April 20.
