Mark Twain Elementary is proud to partner with the Marines Ozarks Recruiting Station, led by Staff Sergeant Manning, in observation of the Month of the Military Child.

This movement has been in place during the month of April since the mid-‘80s to recognize the experiences, bravery and sacrifices of military kids.

These are the many children who have a parent who has served or is serving in the armed forces. To honor them, local Marines visited Mark Twain Elementary and donated a significant number of books to the Mark Twain Birthday Book Cart.

This project, also funded by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization, allows each child in the school to select a book on his or her birthday.  A Veteran Marine himself, Mark Twain Principal Matt Fridley has a deep appreciation for his students who are part of military families, and is excited that his school has been selected by the Marine Corps for this donation. A special thanks to Debra Miles for coordinating the event.
