The Rolla track teams traveled to Springfield for the Springfield Schools Relays on Tuesday, April 16. The Lady Bulldogs finished second in the meet, while the boys came home with a third place finish.
Rolla got out to a solid start in the sprinting events on the back of Olivia Holmes. She won the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.69, while Emma Puetz finished in third with a time of 1:03.61. Riley Slowensky finished sixth in the event. Holmes also finished second in the 200m dash with a time of 27.11, while Tahrea Facen finished sixth. Puetz went on to win the 800m run, the only distance event with Rolla runners. Puetz finished the race with a time of 2:23.09, while Mary Romine finished 11th.
The Lady Bulldogs had some solid finishes in the hurdles races. Loran Pritchett had the top finish for Rolla, finishing fourth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 53.43, while Kassandra Hayes finished seventh and Renae Dobry finished in eighth. Hayes also finished in 10th in the 100m hurdles, while Bayli Graydon finished 11th and Dobry took 12th.
Rolla also had top three finishes in all of the relay races. The Lady Bulldogs took second in both the 4x400 and 4x800. They finished the 4x400 with a time of 4:16.89 and the 4x800 with a time of 10:26.35. The Lady Bulldogs also took third in the 4x100 with a time of 53.93 and third in the 4x200 with a time of 1:52.91.
The Lady Bulldogs kept their great finishes going in the field events. Lauren Moersch and Rebecca Janke both had top three finishes in the javelin with Moersch taking second with a throw of 105', while Janke was a spot behind her with a throw of 103'3". Alexa Foltz also finished in seventh. Janke then took fourth in the discus with a throw of 100'3", while Moersch finished in ninth. Janke also finished in sixth with a throw of 32'6", while Moersch finished in ninth. The jumping events saw Emma and Abby Hobbs finish in third and sixth in the pole vault. Emma took third by clearing 8', while Abby cleared 7'6". Olivia Olusanya also earned a seventh place finish in the long jump with a leap of 14'5". Emily Swizdor took eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 30'10", while Hayes took ninth with a jump of 30'8".
Rolla had a team score of 122.9 team points, finishing in second place to Lebanon's 132.9. Bolivar finished third with a score of 107.8.
The Bulldogs got out to a solid start in the sprinting events. Trey Quick finished in fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.41. Adeeb Massri took 10th in the event. Bryce O'Connor and Quick then finished back to back in the 200m dash with O'Connor finishing fourth with a time of 23.72 and Quick took fifth with a time of 23.83. Rolla then claimed three of the top four spots in the 400m dash. RJ Alfred took second with a time of 51.92, Alex Frisbee followed with a time of 52.79 and O'Connor took fourth with a time of 53.23. Rolla only ran one distance race, where Noah Crutcher took fifth in the two mile race with a time of 11:00.61.
Rolla also ran well in the relays with their top finish coming in the 4x400. The team of O'Connor, Frisbee, Alfred and Nnamezie Orizu won the race with a time of 3:31.1. Rolla also had third place finishes in the 4x100 and 4x200 with times of 45.68 and 1:34.2, respectively. The Bulldogs also finished fourth in the 4x800 with a time of 8:53.52.
Orizu kept his winning ways in the hurdles events, as he took home the top spot in each race. He won the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.49, while Logan Oden finished fifth and Sudatta Hor finished in seventh. Orizu then won the 300m hurdles with a time of 40.55.
The first place finishes kept coming in the field events. Kaberon Burgess won the javelin for the Bulldogs with a throw of 150.3", while Hayden Fane placed sixth. Rolla's throwers also took part in the discus, where Colton Franks finished fifth with a throw of 122'3" and Burgess placed ninth.
Rolla also saw great finishes in the jumping events. Mason Harrison took second in the pole vault after clearing 12', while Johnny Swizdor and Justin McEnaney tied for fifth. Josh Lefatshe and Gage Klossner each tied for fifth in the high jump after clearing 5'6". Mat Ballard also took home a fifth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 38'4.5", while Blaize Klossner finished ninth.
The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 106.4 team points. Bolivar won with a score of 148.8, while Lebanon finished in second with 126.4 team points.
Rolla's next competition will be the SBU Relays on Tuesday, April 23, before hosting the annual Rolla Invitational on Saturday, April 27.
