The Rolla and St. James track teams each took part in the Capital City Relays on Saturday, April 13. The Rolla girls were able to earn a sixth place finish as a team, while their boys finished in 11th. The St. James boys took 12th, while their girls did not have a team score.

Rolla boys: 

Rolla didn't have anyone earn a spot in the 100m dash finals, one of the few races that had preliminaries, as Trey Quick was three spots away from earning a spot in the final race. Their lone sprint finalist was Bryce O'Connor, who finished in eighth with a time of 24.52 in the finals. There was no 400m dash or 800m run on the day.

The distance races saw Noah Crutcher finish 14th in the 1,600m run with a time of 4:58 and 13th in the 3,200m run with a time of 10:45.27.

Nnamezie Orizu ran well in the hurdles events, placing sixth in the 110m hurdles in both the prelims and the finals with his finals finish coming in 15.64. He then finished fourth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 40.84. 

The Capital City Relays had three extra boys relays on the day, as they ran the shuttle hurdles, as well as sprint and distance medley relays. Rolla's top finishes came in the 4x120y shuttle hurdles and the sprint medley relay, where they finished fifth in each. The Bulldogs finished the shuttle hurdles with a time of 1:08.53 and 3:46.97 in the sprint medley, which consisted of two 200m sprints, a 400m sprint and an 800m run. Rolla also finsihed seventh in the 4x200, eighth in the 4x400, ninth in the 4x100, 10th in the 4x800 and 11th in the distance medley relay.

Rolla's best finishes came in the throwing events. Kaberon Burgess earned a second place finish in the javelin with a throw of 157'11", while Hayden Fane finished 16th. Colton Franks finished eighth in the discus with a throw of 133'11", while Burgess finished 25th. Burgess also finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 44'5.5". 

The Bulldogs also had some solid finishes in the jumps. Josh LeFatshe and Gage Klossner tied for fifth in the high jump by both clearing 5'8". Quick finished 14th in the long jump with a leap of 18'3.5" and Matt Ballard finished 13th in the triple jump with a leap of 37'9". 

Rolla girls:

The Lady Bulldogs got out to a solid start in the running events, as Olivia Olusanya finished sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 13.53. Emma Puetz had Rolla's top finish on the day, as she won the 1,600m run with a time of 5:18.63. Bayli Graydon had a strong showing in the 100m hurdles, as she finished sixth with a time of 17.05. Kassandra Hayes took 29th in the 300m hurdles. 

Rolla went on to run well in the relays with three top four finishes. Their top finish came in the 4x200 where the team of Tahrea Facen, Abby Hobbs, Graydon and Olusanya took third with a time of 1:50.47. The Lady Bulldogs also took fourth in the 4x400 with a time of 4:23.27 and fourth in the sprint medley relay with a time of 4:33.21. 

The Lady Bulldog throwers also shined on the day. Rebecca Janke had Rolla's top throws in all three throwing events on the day with her best finish coming in the javelin. She finished third in the event with a throw of 115'2", while Lauren Moersch finished 14th. Janke also finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 32'8.25 and 11th in the discus with a throw of 98'10". Moersch finished 24th and 20th in those events. 

Rolla rounded out the day with some strong jumping. Olusanya took eighth in the long jump with a leap of 15'3", while Hayes took 22nd in the triple jump. Hobbs took ninth in the pole vault after clearing 8'6". Hayes and Emily Swizdor tied for 15th in the high jump by both clearing 4'6".

St. James boys: 

The Tigers opened with a strong showing in the sprinting events led by Grant Conway. He won the 100m prelims, but was half a second slower in the final and took fourth with a time of 11.49. Conway DQed from the 200m dash. As usual, the future Iowa runner dominated the hurdles events, winning both the 110m and 300m events. He claimed the top spot int he 110m hurdles with a time of 14.02, while winning the 300m hurdles with a time of 38.94. Connor Gorrell took 13th in the 300m hurdles, but fell short of making the finals in the 110m hurdles. 

The Tigers only took part in three of the field events. Isaac Bradshaw finished in a tie for 10th in the high jump by clearing 5'6", while also finishing 23th in the javelin. Michael Birkner finished in a tie for eighth in the pole vault after clearing 12'.

St. James girls: 

The lady Tigers only sent a handful of competitors to the Capital City Relays. They competed in two relays, the 300m hurdles and three field events. Courtney Cale took 24th in the 300m hurdles with a time of 56.75. The Lady Tigers finished the 4x100 in ninth with a time of 53.97 and 15th in the 4x200 with a time of 1:58.65. Raina Forstrom took part in three field events, finishing 16th in the triple jump with a leap of 30'6.5", 23rd in the long jump and 29th in the javelin. Emily Light also finished 26th in the long jump and 24th in the triple jump.
