The Rolla golf team traveled to the Lake of the Ozarks to take part in the Laker Invitational on Wednesday, April 10. The Bulldogs couldn't keep up with the highly competitive field, finishing in 14th place as a team.
Rolla's top finishers were Jeriah Jordan and Evan Moore. Each of the golfers shot 85s on the day. Jack Gesualdi was a stroke behind with an 86. Nate Pulliam finished his round with a 96, while Evan Colench shot a 97.
The individual champion was Jonathan Turner from St. Louis University High School, who shot a 72 on the day. Marquette won the event as a team, finishing with a team score of 308. Rock Bridge shot a 315, while SLUH rounded out the top three with a 319. Rolla finished in 14th with a team score of 352.
"We stumbled a bit today," said head coach Zack Nixon. "After our first nine holes, we were in great position to do well, but we didn’t adjust to the conditions. Halfway through the round, the wind kicked up, and we didn’t make the necessary adjustments. We are still working on things, and today provided us with some great learning opportunities to improve and become our best."
Next up for Rolla is the Waynesville Invitational on Monday, April 15.
