Phelps County voters headed to the polls on Tuesday for the 2019 General Municipal Election that saw an incumbent on St. James ballot lose their seat, while voters took to the polls in Edgar Springs and passed a ballot initiative that will impose a 2 percent sales tax.

Election night results should not be considered final official results. Election results updates are time stamped. The Phelps County Clerk's Office said official results of the election should be released on Friday, April 5.

Phelps County had a total of 28,084 registered voters; however, 2,874 ballots were cast for the 2019 Municipal Election — a total voter turnout of 10.23 percent.

Licking R-VIII School District Proposition Wildcats: Should the Board of Education of the Licking R-VIII School District borrow $5.76 million for the purpose of providing funds to construct, equip and furnish new classrooms; to prepay principal on the existing lease financing; to the extent funds are available to expand the elementary cafeteria and to complete other remodeling and repair improvements to the existing facilities of the District; and issue bonds for the payment resulting in an estimated increase of $0.9900 per hundred dollars of assessed valuation.

If the proposition is approved, the adjusted debt service levy of the School District is estimated to bring in $0.9900 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.
