The Honor Council Committee of Missouri Association of Student Councils announced that Rolla High School's Student Council received the Missouri Association of Student Councils Award. Honor Council presentations were made recently at the annual MASC Convention held at Lindbergh High School in St. Louis.
This honor is based on an application Rolla High School's Student Council submitted that met the criteria established by the Honor Council Committee and the MASC Advisory Board.
The criteria are established to honor those councils that have a comprehensive program in promoting student activities and student leadership. Activities include school service, spirit, community service, student and teacher recognition and leadership training activities.
The Honor Council Award is also the highest honor that MASC bestows upon one of its members.
“Student Councils and student leaders make a positive contribution to their schools and help to create a positive educational climate. Rolla High School Student Council provides an atmosphere where students and Student Council can play a vital role in school. Missouri Association of Student Councils recognizes the advisorship of Rodger Bridgeman (Rolla High School's Student Council Director) who certainly played a large part in the acquisition of this award,” Honor Council Program Chairman, Karen Haak, stated in the announcement.
Rolla High School's Principal, Dr. Jim Pritchett, was also commended for supporting the young leaders of Rolla.
“Once again, congratulations on the accomplishments of Rolla High School's Student Council,” Haak stated.
