The Rolla soccer team had another spectacular season in 2018, winning their District for the third straight season, before a tough 2-0 loss in Sectionals. The postseason honors for the Bulldogs have already started to come in and that continues this week as three Rolla players earned All-Region honors this season.
Jarret Gabriele finished off a fantastic career at Rolla with another great season, scoring 36 goals and dishing out 13 assists. As a result, Gabriele was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year in the Southwest/Central Region.
"Jarret had a great season," said Rolla head coach Mike Howard. "There were only a handful of games he didn't score in."
Another offensive threat to earn a spot on the All-Region team was midfielder Gabe Stanislawski. The junior captain was crucial to moving the ball in the middle of the pitch this season. He scored 12 goals to go along with 11 assists on the year.
"Gabe can break down a defense with a shot, pass or on the dribble," said coach Howard. "A very skilled player that understands the game very well for a high school player."
Rounding out Rolla's presence on the Southwest/Central All-Region team was defenseman Rhys Proffitt. The senior captain was the lone returning starter on the defensive end and helped an experienced group record 10 shutouts this season. He added one assist on the offensive end.
"Rhys was the most vocal and effective leader on our team," said coach Howard. "He gave everything he had for this program and those that came before him."
