The Rolla volleyball team (23-8-1, 6-1 OC) traveled to Waynesville for an Ozark Conference matchup on Thursday, Oct. 11. The Lady Bulldogs swept their way through all three levels for another conference win.
The freshmen started the night with a win in straight sets 25-11, 25-11, before the JV won by similar scores of 25-12, 25-10. The varsity match was a bit closer, but Rolla swept the match there too 25-18, 25-22.
"It's hard to play a team for the 3rd time! Waynesville has the potential to be pretty good. I have seen flashes of that all season. Megan Callis does a good job with them," said Rolla head coach Stephanie Pritchett. "Last night we struggled with passing, but still were able to finish with the win."
Shelby Ply and Megan Brown tied for the team lead in kills with 11. Rebecca Janke and Loran Pritchett each added five more kills. Pritchett led the charge in assists with 11, while fellow setter Sophie Parsons added 10 of her own. Ply and Sophie Moreland each had eight digs in the win.
Rolla's District seeding was also announced this week. Eureka is the top seed in the bracket with a record of 22-7-2, Northwest (Cedar Hill-House Springs) is the two seed with a record of 22-4-2 and Washington was the third seed with a record of 18-7-2. Despite currently having the most wins in the District, the Lady Bulldogs are the fourth seed. They will play the fifth seed, Jeff City, who currently has a record of 14-11-3, on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Waynesville was the six seed with a record of 5-17-2. Rolla's matchup with Jeff City will be the second time the two teams face off this season. The Lady Jays previously won in straight sets, but coach Pritchett knows her team will be ready for the rematch.
"We will be ready. We did not have a good game- 16 hitting errors-the first time we played them," said the Rolla head coach. "I know they will be ready to play us."
The winner of that District game will face Eureka in the semi-final.
Before the Lady Bulldogs get to Districts, they have a pair of Ozark Conference matches. Rolla will host Glendale on Tuesday, Oct. 16, before hosting Camdenton on Thursday.
