The St. James softball team traveled to Steelville for a matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 3. The Lady Tiger offense woke up to the tune of 18 runs on the way to an 18-10 win.

St. James kicked off the game with a five run first, but Steelville responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, before scoring three more runs in the second to tie the game at five. St. James retook the lead for good with four runs in the fourth, four more in the sixth and five runs in the seventh. Steelville scored five runs down the stretch, but they couldn't keep up with the Lady Tigers and St. James walked away with an 18-10 win.

The Lady Tigers had 11 hits in the win, led by a stellar 3-4 day from Mikaela Donnelly. She drove in two runs, scored four and stole four bases. Audrey Marcee and Mckenzie Brennan each drove in two runs of their own, while Baylee Ambrose, Scout Paulus, Hunter Pitts and Shelby Quick each added an RBI. The Lady Tigers had walked seven times to go along with their 11s hit in the win. 

Marcee handled the pitching duties for St. James, pitching a complete game. She allowed 10 runs, but only four of them were earned. She surrendered 11 hits and walked five, while striking out five in the win. 

The Lady Tigers were slated to play Crocker on Thursday, but the game was cancelled due to the weather. St. James will open Districts on Wednesday, Oct. 10 against Salem at Sullivan. The winner will face off against the host school in the District Semi-Final.
