The Rolla JV and freshmen football teams faced off against Kickapoo on Monday, Sept. 24. The JV made the trip to Springfield and played their closest game of the season in a 40-20 win, while the freshmen hosted the Chiefs for a 43-13 win.

The Bulldog JV got out to a slow start against Kickapoo, as the Chiefs were the lone team to score in the opening quarter on a 30-yard touchdown, taking a 6-0 lead. The Bulldogs responded to open the second, as Ethan Stephenson punched in a five-yard score on the ground, tying the game at 6-6. Kickapoo punched back with another touchdown through the air, before Stephenson broke of a 46-yard touchdown run. Rolla went for two, but failed. They trailed at the half 13-12. 

The second half was all Rolla. The Bulldogs opened the half with Stephenson hitting Isaac Hunter on a 17-yard touchdown to take their first leaf of the game 20-13 after a successful two-point conversion. Rolla followed with another touchdown soon after when Grayson Madonna punched in a four-yard score. Kickapoo ended the third quarter with a 43-yard rushing touchdown, bringing the score to 26-20 with a quarter left to play. The Bulldogs iced the win with two more touchdowns in the fourth. Stephenson ran in two more touchdowns, the first from 11 yards out and the second from eight yards out to finish off a 40-20 win. 

Stephenson finished the day with 10 carries for 112 yards and four touchdowns, while completing 10 of his 17 pass attempts for 152 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Madonna added 173 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown. Hunter rushed for 83 yards, while also catching four passes for 75 yards and a score. Each team turned the ball over three times. Rolla had forced fumbles from Eric Henson and Matt Osman, while Patrick Cahill intercepted a pass. Henson also had three sacks. 

The freshmen had a dominant game of their own, running away with the game after a great first half. Rolla started off the scoring with Adam Hounsom hit Gage Jones for a 29-yard score. Hounsom then ran in a two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead. Later in the quarter, Rolla got a big play on special teams when Gage Klossner blocked a Kickapoo field goal attempt. The second quarter was where Rolla took off. First Hounsom hit Ben Tiddy on a 72-yard touchdown. Simon Yoakum then hit Jones on a 35-yard touchdown, before Hounsom ran in a two-yard score. Kickapoo scored their lone touchdown of the half on 46-yard run, before Andre Ridenhour added a two yard touchdown for Rolla, bringing the score to 36-6 at the half.

Each team added a touchdown in the second half, as Hounsom ran in another touchdown in the third and Kickapoo ran in a touchdown of their own in the fourth to finish off a 43-13 win. 

Hounsom finished the day with 204 yards and two touchdowns through the air, while adding 21 yards and two scores on the ground. Yoakum also passed for 35 yards and a touchdown. Jones caught two passes for 64 yards and two scores, while Tiddy added a 72-yard touchdown. Klossner added 119 yards on the ground for Rolla. 

The JV and freshmen will both look to continue their undefeated records with matchups against Waynesville on Monday, Oct. 1.
