The Rolla soccer team (4-1, 1-0 OC) traveled to Parkview for their first conference game of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 11. The Bulldogs got a great offensive boost from Jarret Gabriele, who scored twice in the Bulldogs' 2-0 win.
Rolla scored both of their goals early in the first half. First, Gabriele took a pass from Carson Arnold and found the back of the net in the 12th minute, before scoring off a pass from Evan Moore in the 22nd minute. The Bulldogs kept the ball in their offensive end all night long, outshooting Parkview 14-2. Rolla also had seven corners in the contest to Parkview's one. Josiah Homan recorded his third shutout of the season in the victory.
The JV also had a great night, winning 4-1. Lane Mabe scored twice in the win, while Noah Hatfield and Carlos Guzman also scored. Guzman and Sammy Massri each had assists in the win. The Rolla JV is now 2-0 on the season.
“It was nice to start OC play with a road win," said head coach Mike Howard on the victory. "We have a very tough match tonight when the Jays come to town.”
Rolla followed the win with a home match against Jefferson City, but the results were not available at press time. They'll stay at home for their next contest when they host West Plains for another Ozark Conference game on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
