ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T quarterback Tyler Swart (Dickinson, TX/Dickinson) has been named as one of the first recipients of a "Player of the Week" award by the Great Lakes Valley Conference for the 2018 season, as he was selected Monday as the league's offensive player of the week for his performance in S&T's season-opening win Thursday over Eastern New Mexico.

Swart completed 21-of-30 passes for 293 yards and matched his career high with four touchdown passes in the 31-14 victory over a Greyhound team that received votes in the American Football Coaches Association's pre-season poll.

The four scoring passes – which were thrown to four different receivers – made Swart the first player in GLVC history to throw for four touchdowns in a game in four different seasons, as he previously had games with four touchdowns against Quincy in 2015, Lincoln in 2016 and Indianapolis last November.

The first scoring pass of six yards went to Logan Armontrout (Centralia, MO/Centralia)just 1:28 into play, marking the third-fastest score to start a season in Miner history and would later throw touchdown passes of 26 yards to Payton McAlister (Decatur, TX/Decatur), 20 yards to Braxton Graham (Seneca, MO/Seneca) and 36 yards to Josh Brown (Gainesville, FL/North Marion HS).

Swart's four touchdown passes moved him up on the GLVC's career list for touchdown passes to fourth place with 54, a total that also ranks second in Missouri S&T history.  He is already the school's career record holder for passing yards with 6,153 yards and in total offense with 5.848.

The weekly award is the fourth won by Swart during his Miner career.

Missouri S&T returns to action Saturday when it faces Northwood in Midland, Mich., in a 1 p.m. (Eastern time) contest.
