The Newburg track team took part in the Frisco League Conference meet on Wednesday, April 18. The boys and girls both ran well, with Macy Suschanke finishing as one of the top point-scorers at the meet.

Girls track:

Macy Suschanke finished sixth in individual scoring with 23 points thanks to some excellent finishes in the distance events. Her top finish came int he 3,200m run, where she won the event by nearly 30 seconds with a time of 13:19.36. She also finished second in the 1,600m run with a time of 6:03.43, missing out on first by less than two seconds. Suschanke then took fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:53.19 to round out her 23 points. Zoe Wilson also ran the 800m race, finishing 11th with a time of 4:07.72. 

Kaylee Skinner ran the hurdles for Newburg. She placed fifth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 20.45, while finishing in sixth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 57.58. Grace Affolter and Jamie Gann both ran the 100m dash with Affolter taking ninth with a time of 15.52 and Gann placing 15th with a time of 21.95. Newburg also ran in the 4x100, finishing in fifth with a time of 1:01.7. That team consisted of Skinner, Affolter, Marah Suschanke and Staci Brown. Affolter then finished 14th in the 400m dash with a time of 1:20.72. Gann and Brown ran the 200m dash, finishing 15th and 16th with times of 35.95 and 39.33, respectively. 

Girls field:

Macy Suschanke wasn't the only Lady Wolf or athlete with the last name of Suschanke to come home with a first place finish. Marah Suschanke won the conference title in the javelin with a heave of 91'2". Elena Adami took sixth in the event with a throw of 70'6". Suschanke then placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 70'11", while Adami finished in seventh with a throw of 62'3". Leah Dunham placed fourth in the shot put with the Lady Wolves with a throw of 27'2.75", while Adami came in eighth with a throw of 21'.5". 

Newburg also had Affolter place third in the pole vault. She cleared 6'6". Skinner finished fifth in the high jump by clearing 4'4".

Boys track:

Ethan Sanchez ran several events for the boys. Individually he ran the 110m hurdles, placing eighth with a time of 22.71 and 10th in the 300m hurdles with a time of 52.81. He also ran the 4x100 relay with Salvador Albanez, Kyle McKee and Jacob Russell. They placed fifth with a time of 52.23. Albanez also finished 11th in the 100m dash with a time of 13.56 and 13th in the 200m dash with a time of 28.04. McKee finished 11th in the 800m run with a time of 2:46.99 and 12th in the 400m dash with a time of 1:07.65. 

Boys field: 

Russell took part in several field events for Newburg. He took third in the pole vault by clearing 10'6", while Sanchez took seventh in the event by clearing 7'. Russell also took eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 35' and sixth in the javelin with a throw of 126'7". Gabriel Killian also threw for Newburg, taking eighth in all three throwing events. He had a throw of 94'5" in the javelin, 31'11" in the shot put and 81'10" in the discus. McKee also took 10th in the discus with a throw of 78'10. Albanez also took eighth in the long jump with a leap of 17'8.75".
