The Rolla track teams ran in the Capital City Relays in Jefferson City on Saturday, April 14. The Lady Bulldogs finished in sixth place as a team, while the boys took 12th in the 21 team field.

Girls track: 

The Lady Bulldogs had the most success in the distance events. Kassandra Hayes led off the distance events with the 800m dash, which she ran for the pentathlon, where she finished in second with a time of 2:43.71. Emma Puetz then had Rolla's only first place finish in the highly competitive meet in the 1,600m run. She won the event with a time of 5:26.71. Krista Hilmas rounded out the distance events with a third place finish with a time of 11:56.24.1 

Rolla also had some great finishes by Bayli Graydon in the hurdles events. She took fifth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 50.98 and sixth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.34. Taryn Kamprath also finished 12th in the 100m hurdles. 

The Lady Bulldogs ran extremely well in the relays as well. Their top finish came in an event that's rarely run outside of the Capital City Relays, the sprint medley relay. Rolla took third in the event with a time of 4:33.84. They also finished fifth in both the 4x200 and 4x800 relays with times of 1:53.72 and 10:26.08, respectively. Rolla rounded out the relays with a ninth place finish in the 4x400 and 12th in the 4x100. 

Girls field: 

Rolla also had a few strong finishes in the field events. The top finish in the field events was Rebecca Janke, who took second in the javelin with a throw of 109'8". She also placed 11th in the shot put and 26th in the discus. Courtney Colench also had a spot in the finals in the high jump, finishing in a tie for second by clearing 5', placing fourth on the tiebreaker.. Hayes took 11th in the event. The final top 10 finish in the field events was Visakha Ho taking 10th in the pole vault by clearing 8'6". 

Girls pentathlon: 

Hayes took part in the pentathlon for Rolla, finishing in fifth place in the event. The pentathlon is comprised of five events. On top of her second place finish in the 800m run, Hayes' 11th place finish in the high jump was second amongst the pentathlon competitors. She cleared 4'9". Her long jump and 100m dash finishes placed her in sixth for the pentathlon competitors, while her shot put throw put her in seventh. 

As a team, the Lady Bulldogs tallied 57 team points, which was good for a sixth place finish. Jeff City won the event with a team score of 121. 

Boys track: 

Rolla's top track finishes came in the hurdles. Nnamezie Orizu finished in second place in the 300m hurdles with a time of 41.91. Sudatta Hor finished 21st in the event, while Brad Shelton placed 21st in the 110m hurdles. Rolla also ran the 480m shuttle hurdle relay, finishing in sixth place with a time of 1:07.33. 

Rolla ran in several other relay events, led by an eighth place finish in the 4x200 with a time of 1:37.48. They also finished in 11th in both the 4x400 and the sprint medley relay. They also placed 12th in the 4x100 and 13th in both the 4x800 and distance medley relays. 

Boys field: 

Landon Adams and Caleb Turner had the top field finishes for the boys in the pole vault. Adams tied for second in the event, but finished in third on the tiebreaker after clearing 13'6", while Turner finished in sixth by clearing 12'. Kaberon Burgess also took sixth in the javelin with a throw of 141'11", while finishing 11th in the shot put. Colton Franks finished in 15th in the shot put, 22nd in the javelin and 24th in the discus. Kaleb Chiles also finished 15th in the long jump. 

Boys pentathlon: 

Nick Janke took part in the pentathlon for Rolla, taking third place in the event. His top finish amongst the pentathlon competitors was a first place finish in the shot put with a throw of 41.5 feet. He also had third place finishes in the 100m dash (12.65), high jump (6') and long jump (19'). She also finished the 800m dash in eighth place with a time of 2:24.24.
